- Abstract
Introduction: We aim to increase the available information in the present age on the stage of fusion of skull suture using CT films. We also want to confirm or refute the association between progression of fusion of cranial sutures and age. Material and Methods: It was a cross sectional prospective study where films of Computed tomography of skull are used to study the progression of fusion of cranial sutures where age is known and consent has been given. Lambdoid suture is more unique as muscular forces besides genetic, nutritional and gender difference plays a role in its closure. This study of ours as a cross-sectional prospective study done in the year 2020 -2022. The sample size of our study was 400. Fredric's scale was used to assess the stage of fusion. Result: 68% (n=272) of our sample size were male and 32%(n=128) were female. Earliest age of Fusion in males was 39 years and in females was 40 years in our study and use of such modalities should be done to know the age of fusion of suture. Conclusion: Usage of such modalities should be used wherein data which is available for patients benefit, like in our case use of CT images which was done on advice of clinical specialties, is used for enhancement of knowledge.
