- Abstract
Permanence in school is a right provided for in the 1988 Federal Constitution. However, keeping students in school is a challenge for educational institutions, since it involves many factors, which may be individual, internal, or external to the institutions. Based on this context, this study aims to analyze scientific productions regarding student retention in Professional Education, in articles published in the Capes Base (Capes Open Access Journal), from 2012 to 2022. The research carried out has a descriptive quantitative approach, with intentional sampling, based on the main laws of bibliometrics. The analyses carried out showed that there is a concentration of publications (84.65%) in the area of knowledge of Public and Business Administration, Accounting Sciences, and Tourism, as well as the connection between the authors and co-authors, who are linked to the partnership in the production of the article, indicating a network to be explored in future research. It was also evident that the majority of publications (87%) come from researchers from federal institutions. In the analysis of the abstracts of the documents that were the objective of study for this paper, the term permanence is strongly linked to the themes and discussions in the area of Vocational Education and Training its complementarity with the term evasion, school and public policies.
