This study was designed with a focus on identifying the most recurrent types of trauma in motorcycle accidents in western Santa Catarina, as well as verifying the profile of drivers and pillion riders. The occurrences attended by the fire brigade responsible for assisting the region of Western Santa Catarina, between the period from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2020, were analyzed. 21728 occurrences were obtained, of which 6798 were related to motorcycle accidents. After careful reading with the application of exclusion criteria, 4746 bulletins were selected. It was possible to observe that among the victims, most drivers are young adults aged between 18 and 35 years old, male (49.80%), while most passengers are female (60.32%) with predominance of the age group 18 to 25 (43.53%). In addition, motorcycle versus car accidents and falls were the most frequent and the most affected anatomical segments were the lower limbs, upper limbs and head and neck, with abrasions and fractures as the most frequent injuries. With regard to the days of the week, accident records were more prevalent on Thursdays and Fridays, while Saturdays and Sundays were the days with the lowest number of occurrences. With this study, we demonstrate the need to intensify educational campaigns, in addition to reinforcing the importance of complete records, since they can collaborate with epidemiological studies.
