Abstract

In the present study was conducted in order to analyse the relationship between variability of the chemical composition and physiological quality of soybean seeds, the Tabarana, Tucunaré and M-SOY 8866 cultivars were used, each represented by three lots. For the choice of cultivars, the representative quantity of seed used in the Mato Grosso was considered. The characteristics evaluated were: germination, seedling emergence, tetrazolium and oil content, protein and free fatty acids. For the seeds of lot 3 of cultivar Tabarana a higher percentage of germination and seedling emergence was found, while the tetrazolium test and seed viability was similar between lots and cultivars. The contents of protein, oil and fatty acids in soybean seeds were variable between lots and reflected in the average difference between cultivars, and the protein content was higher in the seeds of cultivar Tabarana and higher oil content in seeds was obtained for cultivar Soy M-8866. From the results, it is possible to verify that the level of free fatty acids was lower in the seeds of cultivar Tucunaré and chemical composition of soybean seeds varies among cultivars and lots and keeps to physiological quality.
