Abstract

The article describes eflornithine as a drug for the reduction of hirsutism in women. It is stated that eflornithine was synthesized as anti-cancer agent in 1970 and is later indicated for the reduction of facial hair growth in women irrespective of the cause of hair growth. Eflornithine irreversibly inhibits the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase which is responsible for hair growth.
