Abstract

The article presents a study which investigates whether Chinese hand-radicals are processed separately, and whether this processing happens in sensory-motor gions. The study consisted of 72 high-frequency Chinese characters and 28 participants undergone functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to read characters. Results showed that verbs which involve hand-action activated the left inferior parietal lobule, might be reflecting information integration in the radical.
