Abstract

Selection and professionalization are now presented as possible answers to the high failures and dropout rates at the undergraduate level. This article studies the development of academic aspirations and the recruitment of training which, just as senior engineers departments, receives an important amount of working-class technology and vocational graduates. It particularly analyses the entries into those fields of study as a double product of the academic ambitions of working-class graduates and the specific recruiting mechanisms frameworks.
