Title

Plant pathogens as biocontrol agents for Cirsium arvense -- an answer to Müller and Nentwig.

Authors

Cripps, Michael G.; Bourdôt, Graeme W.; Bailey, Karen L.

Abstract

The authors criticize a study on plant pathogens as biocontrol agents for the weed Cirsium arvense. They discuss the issue of specificity of bioherbicides raised by the study. They note that the study failed to give emphasize that C. arvense is difficult to control by any means. They disagree with the study's conclusion that microbial control of the weed has been largely overstimated.
