This article discusses the influence of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and diabetes on heart attack risk. The author says that diabetes mellitus increases the risk of coronary heart disease, and (HRT) may reduce or increase the risk, but little is known about these factors in women with diabetes. HRT in the face of coronary artery disease in women with or without diabetes is still being researched, but from this and other studies, it would be wise not to administer HRT to someone who has already had an myocardial infarction.
