Abstract

This study was involved 110 samples collected from Baquba Teaching Hospital in Baquba city for the period from January 2017 to April 2018 for two groups of people (with renal failure and healthy). The results of direct microscopy using 10% KOH showed that 65 positive samples were distributed in 46 of patients and of 19 healthy persons. The negative samples were 34 samples for patients and 11 for healthy persons. The results of the laboratory culture showed 73 positive samples distributed in 50 samples of patients and 23 samples of healthy persons, while those that did not give growth were 30 samples of patients and 7 samples of healthy persons . Ten fungal species were isolated, which were divided into 5 genus. Aspergillus was the most common genus about 52% of the total samples followed by Candida, 38%, Penicillium and Rhodotorula at 4% for both sexes and Rhizopus 2%. The results showed fungal sensitivity against Fluconazole, 100% of C.famata isolates, 84.6% of C.albicans isolates and 50% of C. tropicals isolates were inhibited . All Aspergillus species (A.niger, A.terrus, A.flavus). Except A. fumigatus showed 100% resistance, as well as both R.arrhizus, R.mucillaginosa were 100% resistance. Alcoholic extract of Mirabilis jalapa showed an inhibitory effect against Candida, while the molds were resistant to the extract.
