Title

Aβ degradation—the inside story.

Authors

Leissring, Malcolm A.

Abstract

The author reflects on the study that focused on the intracellular Aβ-degrading proteases as the primary constituent of the amyloid plaques that characterize Alzheimer's disease (AD). He cites several studies that were reported regarding the function of proteases in understanding the fundamental molecular pathogenesis of AD. The author also agrees that such studies can also help inform the development of effective therapies for the condition.
