- Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of FIFA 11 Warm-up Program and Traditional Warm-up Program applied to volleyball players on service speed and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test results in volleyball players. 22 female volleyball players playing in the Turkish Women's Volleyball second league participated in the study; participants were randomly divided into two groups: FIFA 11 Warm-up Group (FWG) and Traditional Warm-up Group (TWG). Participants' functional movement patterns were measured using FMS test kit, and their service speeds were measured using the Pocket Radar Ball Coach Speed Gun (USA) brand speed measuring device twice: at the beginning of the study and after eight weeks of exercise. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to determine the difference between the pre-test and post-test of the participants. According to the results of the statistical analysis, a significant difference was determined in favor of the post-test in the Inline Lunge subtest and FMS total scores of the TWG participants who applied traditional warm-up according to the FHT test results. In the FWG participants who applied the FIFA 11 warm-up program, a significant difference was found in favor of the pre-test in the service speed measurements, and in favor of the post-test in the FMS test results in the Deep Squat, Inline Lunge, Trunk Stability Push-Up, Rotary Stability subtests and FMS total scores. It can be said that FIFA 11 warm-up exercises, which were developed for the football branch and used effectively in preventing injuries, can also be used in developing functional movement patterns of volleyball players and preventing injuries.
