Abstract

The current pharmacological research was to explore the antipyretic activity of Vinpocetine in Wistar albino rodent. Fever was influenced in rodents by injecting 15%w/v Brewer's yeast solution. The rodents were distributed into 4 groups, 6 of each. The experimental protocol was: Group I have taken 1% Tween 80% in normal saline solution orally (control); Group II has taken standard drug paracetamol (PCM) 100mg/kg; Group III, & IV taken Vinpocetine 30mg & 60mg/kg individually. In all trials, rodents were orally dispensed. The degree of heat all the rodents in each group was estimated at the start of the experiment, at 18h after yeast injection, and every hourly for 4h thereafter. The mean degree of heat was determined for each group and was compared with the control group and the standard group. Vinpocetine at doses 30 & 60mg/kg impotently diminished the body's degree of heat on yeast prompted fever and was comparable with the standard group.
