Estigma de COVID persistente en servicios de salud de las fuerzas armadas mexicanas.

We share the case of a navy officer with persistent complaints focused on severe fatigue with joint physical efforts 2 years after a mild COVID-19 infection. A personal history of depression in 2016 and the absence of cardiac changes led to the assumption of a psychiatric disorder. On the magnetic resonance imaging brain scan, bifrontal-temporal atrophy and a right lacunar infarct were demonstrated. A deep neuropsychological assessment was conducted to observe the presence of severe cognitive deficits correlated with the long-COVID. Contrary to the mental fog commonly detected by people with this condition, the officer did not have any advertisements for this. The stigma on health professionals due to the absence of physical abnormalities and cognitive deficits in patients can lead to ignoring a serious mental health issue.
