The aim of this study was to examine the environmental awareness and environmental motivation levels of secondary school students in Sakarya in terms of gender and grade level after the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants in this correlational survey were 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from eight public schools in three Sakarya districts selected via convenience sampling. The “Environmental Awareness Scale” and “Environmental Motivation Scale” were used for data collection. Based on face-to-face data from 398 participants, the findings showed generally high and positive environmental awareness and motivation levels across all sub-dimensions. Significant differences in environmental awareness were found in three sub-dimensions based on gender and in all sub-dimensions based on grade level. For environmental motivation, significant differences were found in one sub-dimension of the related scale in terms of gender and grade level variables. In this study, positive and low-level significant relationships were found between environmental awareness and environmental motivation levels of students and some subdimensions. In the last part of the study, various suggestions pertinent to the findings are given.
