The article discusses diabetic neuropathy and lower-extremity vascular disease. Based on a study conducted on 276 diabetic neuropathy patients, 46 had deep pains in the legs and were likely to have microalbuminuria, while 126 had prickling sensations in the feet. Several approaches in treatment of diabetic neuropathy are described, including the admission of metformin and aldose reductase inhibitor ranirestat. The epidemiology and prognosis of peripheral arterial disease are also discussed.
