However, none have focused on the species' composition and distribution patterns. Therefore, herein, the species composition and distribution patterns of ichthyoplankton collected from January to December 2021 from Jinhae Bay, South Sea of Korea, were investigated. An oblique tow was collected from the bottom to the surface using a bongo net (80 cm, 330 µm) from eight stations. The collected samples were identified using morphological analysis and mtDNA cytochrome oxidase subunit I and 16S rRNA sequencing. A total of 66,938 ± 189,267 eggs/1000 m3 (mean ± Standard Deviation, SD) belonging to 30 species and 23 families, and 14,834 ± 31,325 larvae/1000 m3 from 45 species and 25 families, were collected from Jinhae Bay. The dominant egg species were Engraulis japonicus (93.4%), Repomucenus valenciennei (1.5%), and Nuchequula nuchalis (1.2%). Clupea pallasii (92.4%), R. valenciennei (2.5%), and E. japonicus (1.6%) were the dominant larval species. As a result of non-metric multidimensional scaling, fish were divided into two groups: One group spawns during low water temperatures and the other group spawns during high water temperatures.
