Prevalência e evolução temporal do sobrepeso e da obesidade em adultos de Campo Grande, MS.

The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence and temporal evolution of overweight and obesity in adults in Campo Grande, MS, and Brazil. A secondary database from the Ministry of Health was used for the years 2012 to 2021. The prevalence of overweight in the adult population living in Campo Grande, MS, was 38.4% in 2021. The higher frequency was observed in women than in men. The temporal analysis showed an increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Brazil. In Campo Grande, MS, the increase in both overweight and obesity was greater in older people, aged 65 and over. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher in women than in men. The growth of overweight and obesity requires attention, mainly because they are important risk factors for chronic diseases.
