Experimental design and data collection were conducted for the head and tail yarns generated during the production process of the double twisting machine. The twisting distribution of the drum yarn produced, by the batch production of tail yarns, broken ends or merging spools using three different head production methods as well as the yarn entering the spool and closely adhering to the surface of the yarn tube were analyzed. Optimization operation methods for the head production of the double twisting machine process improvement methods for the tail yarn retention device and removal of 1 m during the head yarn treatment were proposed to meet the requirements. This method can improve production efficiency and reduce yarn waste.
