The article discusses a study that identified novel genes associated with growth hormone (GH) deficiency by identifying genomic copy number changes in individuals with isolated GH deficiency. The use of oligonucleotide microarray comparative genomic hybridization to assess DNA samples is explained along with the Genetics and Neuroendocrinology of Short Stature International Study research program. Results are discussed in three individuals with copy number changes in chromosome regions not known to be associated with GH deficiency.
