Abstract

The article presents information about Myotis escalerai, a new species of French bats and was known for being endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. It is noted that Myotis escalerai has different morphological and ecological traits, an example of which is that the species creates big breeding colonies in caves unlike the European Myoris Natterei which lives in small groups in tree holes. It is asserted that Myotis escalerai and Myotis Sp. A are two new cryptic taxa that were discovered through molecular species identification tools.
