The article discusses a study on Felou gundi, Felovia vae, in central Mauritania. This ctenodactylid rodent is know for living in rocky areas, making it hard for observer to determine its status. From November 2006 to February 2007, specimens of Felovia vae at several localities in the Tagant Plateau were obtained. The collection was conducted in order to name the plateau a Ramsar site. It is noted that humans do not eat these rodents, although its population may be affected by the possible increase in goat herding.
