- Abstract
The study aimed to explore the effects of rumen lysine (RPLys) and rumen methionine (RPMet) on the growth performance, serum biochemical indexes, antioxidant capacity, immune performance and rumen fermentation parameters in the basic diet of fattening Hu sheep. Thirty-two healthy three-month-old fattened Hu sheep (rams) with the body weight of (20.22±4.01) kg were randomly divided into four groups with eight replicates per group and one sheep per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.15% RPLys+0.05% RPMet (trial group Ⅰ), 0.45% RPLys+0.15% RPMet (trial group Ⅱ) and 0.75% RPLys+0.25% RPMet (trial group Ⅲ), respectively. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 52 days. The results showed that there were no significant differences in average daily gain, average daily dry matter intake and ratio of feed to gain of Hu sheep among all groups (P>0.05). The A/G in trial group Ⅰ was significantly higher than that in control group and trial group Ⅱ (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) in trial groups were significantly increased (P<0.05), and the malondialdehyde (MDA) content in experimental groups was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity of trial group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of the other groups (P<0.05), and the catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities of trial groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than those of control group and trial group Ⅰ (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the contents of serum immunoglobulin A (IgA), immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) in trial groups were significantly increased (P<0.05), and the content of interleukin-2 (IL-2) in trial groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The study indicates that dietary supplementation of RPLys and RPMet can enhance the immune performance and antioxidant capacity of Hu sheep, but has no negative effects on serum biochemical indexes and rumen fermentation. Dietary supplementation of 0.45% RPLys and 0.15% RPMet has better effects.
