Abstract

Palm meal is the residual material after the dehulling and oil extraction of palm kernels, and it is a nutritionally rich and inexpensive feed ingredient. Due to and certain anti-nutrient factors and its high crude fiber content, it is not easy for animals to digest and absorb, but it can be reduced by crushing, high temperature and high pressure blasting, bacterial enzyme complex fermentation, microbial fermentation and other methods. After fermentation, palm meal has the advantages of good palatability and disease prevention, can improve the digestibility and production performance of animals. This paper mainly describes the characteristics, nutritional properties and anti-nutritional properties of palm meal, and analyzes the practical application of palm meal and its fermented feed in pig, ruminant, poultry and aquatic animal breeding and its influence on animal production performance and serum biochemical indexes, combined with previous studies. The feasibility of alleviating the effect of anti-nutrition factors in feed and replacing corn soybean meal as unconventional feed raw materials provides reference for the application of palm meal and its fermented feed in livestock and poultry production.
