Abstract

An essay is presented which discusses the 19th century American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson's political thought, including through offering a comparison with the political thought of the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes. It often references the essay "Politics," by Emerson to analyze his political and moral philosophy. An overview of Emerson's perspective on friendship and rights is provided.
