- Title
A Coalition to Influence Public Policy.
- Authors
Stone, Judith P.; Olson, Judith F.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the development of a coalition group by social work services of four hospitals in the U.S. The coalition came into being to deal with governmental regulations and attendant administrative procedures which were creating barriers to effective discharge planning. It was also aimed to mobilize the data gathering and analysis capacity of the hospitals. The coalition undertook the responsibility to develop a common perspective between hospital-based social workers and continuing care nurses so they could develop a stronger collective voice for influencing the planner of medicaid policies.
