The article examines the advantages and disadvantages of using depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA), or more known by its trade name as Depo-Provera. Accordingly, the DMPA injection is a method of long acting reversible contraception (LARC) used in more than 130 countries. Although DMPA is considered an effective means of preventing pregnancy, the method is being prohibited because it can cause uterine bleeding, fibroids, clotting disorders, and endrometrial cancer.
