The article examines the induction of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in murine macrophages by corn silk. The induction was caused by the secretion of PGE2-Expression of COX-2 and was inhibited by pyrolidine dithiocarbamate and increased DNA binding by nuclear factor kappa B. This mechanism indicates that COX-2 induction proceeds also through the nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway.
