Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect of mixed nursing on intestinal symptoms and inflammation levels in patients with neurogenic bowel dysfunction(NBD)after spinal cord injury(SCI). Methods:Ninety NBD patients after SCI were selected as the research subjects. And they were randomly divided into two groups, each with 45 cases. The control group received conventional treatment and nursing. And the observation group received mixed nursing from TCM based on the conventional treatment and nursing. Compare the difficult defecation (DD)and the level of inflammation between the two groups. Results:After 1 month of treatment, moderate and severe DD incidence in the observation group(6. 7%)was lower than in the control group(77. 8%). The difference was statistically significant(P<0. 001). The difference between two groups of interleukin 2(IL⁃2),interleukin 4(IL⁃4),interleukin 6(IL⁃6),interleukin 10(IL⁃10),tumor necrosis factor α(TNF⁃α),interferon γ(INF⁃γ),and C ⁃reactive protein(CRP)was statistically significant(P<0. 001). Conclusions:Based on conventional rehabilitation nursing,TCM mixed nursing could help to improve the symptoms of NBD patients after SCI,lower the inflammation level. And it could be good for the patients' home care.
