Correlation study between irrational reproductive cognition and stigma in infertile patients.

Abstract

Objective: To probe into levels of irrational reproductive cognition and stigma among infertility patients and their correlation. Methods: A total of 334 infertile patients who received assisted reproductive technology in the reproductive medicine department of two tertiary grade-A hospitals in Xi 'an from May 2018 to August 2018, were selected as research objects by convenient sampling method. And investigation was carried out by taking general information questionnaire, Irrational Parenthood Cognitions Questionnaire and Infertility Stigma Scale. Results: Total score of irrational reproductive cognition among 334 infertility patients was 44. 61±11. 03. Total score of stigma was 62. 40±22. 21. Total score of irrational reproductive cognition of infertility patients was positively correlated with total score and score of each dimension of stigma(P<0. 05). Conclusion: The level of irrational reproductive cognition of infertility patients is above the middle level. And patients'stigma is close to the middle level. There is a correlation between the two. The higher the level of irrational fertility cognition of patients is, the higher the level of stigma is.
