Abstract

The article discusses a study to evaluate the gene environment (GxE) interaction observed in patients with Alzheimer's disease and the contribution of apolipoprotein E gene (APOE) polymorphism, serum lipids and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs)to the disease. The study concluded that GxE interactions do exist with APOE genotypes, and that serum cholesterol, b- hexachlorocyclohexane (b-HCH) and dieldrin are risk factors for Alzheimer's disease.
