Abstract

The article reviews the available literature regarding the effect of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) use on cardiovascular outcomes. Five studies concluded that SSRI use is linked with decreased cardiovascular morbidity or mortality. Two studies showed that SSRI use was associated with worsened prognosis and 6 studies discovered no statistically significant association.
