Title

Laser Conditioning: A Preferred Option over Conventional Acid Etching for Orthodontic Bonding.

Authors

Kumar, Mukesh; Goyal, Manish; Sharma, Madhur

Abstract

The article published in the Journal of Indian Orthodontic Society in October 2020 compares the demineralization resistance and shear bond strength of enamel surfaces after erbium, chromium: yttrium–scandium–gallium-garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser etching with conventional acid etching for orthodontic bonding. The study raises questions about the statistical significance of certain results and the methodology used in the research, such as the randomization of selected teeth and the choice of laser wavelength for enamel etching. The authors seek clarification on these issues to better understand the findings presented in the article.
