Abstract

The article presents a study on the presence of nasopharynx biofilms among patients with nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC), osteoradionecrosis (ORN), and patients with NPC but no ORN. It says that 27 NPC, 15 ORN, and 12 without ORN patients had receive radiotherapy and were evaluated by fluorescence microscopy to determine biofilms formation. It concludes that the presence of biofilms, which are common with NPC patients with ORN, contribute to the resistance of antibiotic treatment.
