- Abstract
In the article, the author discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the need to address loneliness and social isolation as among the key public health issues in the U.S. He cites as example the case of a woman who struggled with loneliness after the death of her husband. Also cited is how people who are lonely and isolated are at higher risk of conditions like coronary heart disease, stroke and dementia.
