- Abstract
The article discusses the public health issue of food insecurity. It mentions the definition of food insecurity by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as the household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food, some health risks associated with food insecurity including obesity, heart disease and malnutrition, and some communities and groups addressing food security including the nonprofit group ProMedica, the nonprofit Food Trust and food banks.
