Abstract

The article discusses the challenges that remain in the area of oral health in the U.S. despite its progress since 2000. Topics include the improvements in oral health among Americans since the May 25, 2000 report of then U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, "Oral Health in America: A Report of the Surgeon General," research showing how oral health links to conditions such as diabetes, and the Oral Health Strategic Framework, 2014-2017, of the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Department.
