Authors

Whaley, Charles R.; Wolfe, Delores M.

Abstract

The article focuses on the pilot project sponsored by the North Carolina Quality Assurance Program for Teacher Education that trains 35 cooperating teachers in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System in Charlotte, North Carolina. The purpose of the project is to develop and evaluate procedures for selecting, motivating, training, certifying and monitoring the performance of cooperating teachers. Project designers discovered that research about student teaching rendered little information about selecting, training and motivating cooperating teachers.
