Abstract: The article discusses research that has been completed regarding the chemical composition of streptococcus mutans, the age of the culture on the cell wall and the growth medium. The study found that the cell walls were comprised of a variety of chemicals including galactose, glucose and rhamnose. The impact that the study found that the growth medium can have on the composition of the cell wall is discussed. Previous studies that have been completed regarding the composition of streptococcus mutans are mentioned.
