Abstract

The article discusses the proceedings of an American Meteorological Society (AMS) meeting that took place in January 2004 in Seattle, Washington regarding the future of human beings in an automated numerical weather forecasting (NWF) process. Desirable traits of a successful forecaster include adaptiveness to new technologies and awareness of the customers' needs, expectations, and knowledge level.
