Abstract

The article presents a study which explores the ichthyofaunal diversity of two beels in Goalpara District, Assam, India. The study discovers 59 beel species belonging to 40 genera, 19 families, and eight orders. It records 17 riverine fishes and the rest are found in lentic habitats. It cites several fishes from lotic habitats including Gudusia chapra, Salmophasia, and Barilius bendelisis.
