リスクコミュニケーションにおけるリスク比較 ―リスク比較の望ましさランクの「根強さ」を探る―.

Authors

桑垣玲子; 菅原慎悦

Abstract

The authors select the following paper as the most influence paper (MIP) in the field of risk communication: Covello. V.T., Sandman, P.M., and Slovic, P., Risk communication, Risk Statistics, and Risk comparisons: A manual for Plant Managers, Chemical Manufacturers Association, Washington DC, 1988. Authored by the highly experienced practitioners and influential scholars, the article, notably its proposed ranking of the acceptability of risk comparisons, soon became a basic literature in the fields of risk communication research and practice. While some subsequent studies suggest the need for modifying and upgrading this ranking, it is worthwhile to revisit it and its underlying messages reflecting the recent experiences including risk communication after nuclear disaster. In this paper, the authors outline this influential article and provide a brief overview of the ensuing studies on risk comparison, and discusses why it is still worth highlighting
