- Abstract
The article presents the results of a study on the effects of tiletamine-zolazepam (TZ) to immobilise grey seals (Halichoerus grypus), particularly during the lactation period. Samples were obtained in three separate instances from thirty anaesthesised lactating female grey seals. Results indicated that TZ remains effective in immobilisation of female grey seals despite the variations in body weight estimates during lactation. Researchers comment, however, that supplementary analgesia may be required for more invasive procedures like blubber biopsy.
