Recipient of Outstanding Article of the Year in Language Learning.

Abstract

The article discusses the study utilized an artificial language learning task in order to determine whether young children acquire awareness of grammatical patterns based on statistical regularities in the input. Topics include the evidence for statistical learning has been documented in many research studies; statistical knowledge that young children acquire based on exposure to linguistic input, and implications for how we think about statistical learning in general.
