Posterior leaflet augmentation using a left atrial wall patch for severe left atrioventricular valve regurgitation after repair of an atrioventricular defect.
The article presents the case study of a five-year-old boy with left atrioventricular (AV) septal defect. The patient developed severe mitral regurgitation after undergoing surgery of the AV septal defect which was attributed to the fixation of the posterior leaflet. He underwent mediansternotomy on cardiopulmonary bypass where a part of the left atrial wall was removed.
