Abstract

The article introduces a series of articles about proteoglycans in health and disease, published within the issue. They include one on the role of the small leucine-rich proteoglycans (SLRPs) in cell signaling, another on the function of the cell-surface syndecans and their active enzymatic shedding, and one on new heparanase roles in cancer progression and metastasis.
