A reluctance by florists to stock primula obeonica may have led to a decline in the prevalence of primula dermatitis on the continent of Europe, as of July 1988. However, no such reticence appeared to affect seed distributors in Great Britain. This article presents results of an examination of the status of primula sensitivity in London, England. For patch testing, synthetic primin was used rather than primula extracts or pieces of the plant itself. The clinical variability of primula dermatitis in terms of site, morphology and severity is well recognized. The commonest sites of involvement were the fingers and the face.
