Abstract: The article offers information on a study related to the cord gas parameters in infants born to women with sickle cell disease (SCD). It notes the placental role in fetal gas-exchange and umbilical cord blood gas (UCBG). It notes the aim of the study which is to determine whether UCBG in infants of SCD-affected women differ from infants of non-affected women.
