Abstract

Presents a study that created mice harboring mutation of tyrosine 522 of RyR1 to determine its effects on calcium homeostasis, skeletal muscle function and in vivo sensitivity to anesthesia and heat. Heterozygous Y522S mice as a model for human malignant hyperthermia; Susceptibility of heterozygous Y522S mice to heat-induced whoe body contractures in vivo and heat-induced contractures in vitro; Effects of the heterozygous mutation.
