- Abstract
The article discusses the frequencies of genetic variation and mitochondrial DNA haplotype and microsatellite allele in reindeers in Alaska, Siberia, Russia and Scandinavia and wild North American caribou. The genetic variation of reindeers from Alaska is comparable to herds in Russia. Most of the microsatellite loci among reindeers are polymorphic. The introgressive hybridization from reindeer to wild caribou contributed to the haplotype of two caribou in Alaska.
